The Bioclear Method

A conservative way to rejuvenate your smile.

  1. Preserves your natural tooth

Bioclear is designed to rebuild teeth while preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.

  2. A conservative approach

Used for worn, broken, discoloured and chipped teeth, and for closing small gaps. Your dentist will explain what suits your teeth.

  3. Planned around your teeth

Bioclear is used to rebuild the shape, size and fit of teeth. Results vary from person to person.

  • Black triangles after braces
  • Diastema closure
  • Peg laterals
  • Damaged or worn teeth
  • Replacing failing white and silver fillings
  • Chipped or discoloured teeth

Root canal therapy

Root canal care, guided by the microscope.

Root canal therapy is a procedure designed to save a natural tooth that can be saved. We remove the damaged pulp, clean the root canal system using laser-assisted techniques, and seal it. It is provided by a general dentist, not an endodontist.

  • Magnification and light

The dental microscope adds magnification and illumination for improved visibility of fine structures and anatomical details.

  • Microbial control

Laser-assisted techniques are used to clean the root canal system, and the Waterlase laser is used for its disinfecting properties.

  • 3D diagnosis

Dental CBCT gives a fast, non-invasive three-dimensional view that helps with root canal diagnosis.

  • Comfort first

Local anesthesia is used to help keep you comfortable. Oral conscious sedation may be an option if it is recommended for you.

Preserve what is yours. Restore what is missing.

Your natural tooth is worth protecting. At Signature Dental in downtown Edmonton, Dr. Rafael Bustamante, a general dentist, focuses his practice on restorative and esthetic dentistry, with one aim: restorations that fit your goals while keeping as much of your own tooth structure as possible.

That thinking shapes everything we do, from hygiene visits to root canal therapy intended to save a tooth, to the Bioclear Method that Dr. Bustamante also teaches to other dentists.

Look closely. Preserve carefully.

  • Aesthetic restoration: gaps, black triangles, chips and worn edges addressed with attention to how your smile looks when you talk and laugh.
  • Tooth preservation: we look closely under magnification, then discuss what your tooth needs. When it is suitable, we add rather than remove, and we explain when a root canal or another option may let you keep a tooth.
  • Long-term care: restorations still need looking after. Regular exams and hygiene visits help us check your teeth over time.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Signature Dental located?

We are at #406, 11523 100 Ave NW, in the historic LeMarchand Mansion in Wîhkwêntôwin (Oliver), just west of downtown Edmonton. Parking is available and the building has an elevator. Getting here.

Can I come in before work?

Yes. Appointments start at 7:00 AM, Monday to Thursday, so many visits wrap up before the workday. New patients are welcome.

What does tooth preservation mean at your clinic?

It means we aim to keep as much of your natural tooth as we can. Whenever it makes sense, we discuss the more conservative option first, such as a Bioclear restoration or a root canal, along with the alternatives, so you can make an informed choice. Not every tooth can be saved, and we will tell you if that is the case.

What is the Bioclear Method?

Bioclear is a restoration method used to reshape and rebuild teeth that are worn, chipped, gapped or discolored. Dr. Bustamante is on faculty at the Bioclear Learning Center and is a Bioclear Master Track provider. Read more on our Bioclear page.

Do I need to be in pain to book a visit?

No. Many people come in for an exam, a cleaning, or simply to find a new dental home. If you do have pain or swelling, please call us at (780) 482-3636 so we can talk about next steps.
